I was born and have spent most of my life in Vancouver. My parents immigrated from Japan in the 1950s, which makes me a second- generation Japanese-Canadian. I became politicized in my early twenties and was active in various local feminist, anti-racist and queer communities. In 2000, the direction of my life fundamentally changed and I decided to finally pursue many forgotten desires, one of which was to go to art school. I graduated from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 2008 and have since continued my art practice. I enjoy working in a variety of disciplines which include ceramics, animation and print.
