Art acts as a crossroads between my varied interests, and the different sides of my identity. I am drawn to work evoking childhood experience and the repression of identity when it does not conform to social norms. I am also interested in exploring the subtle differences of identity, and its fragility or impermanence.
I enjoy working in a variety of disciplines but my process often involves repetition or producing the multiple. Through the slightly altered multiple, I am also exploring related themes of similarity and difference, individuality and conformity, and uniqueness and mass production.
Many of theses themes are still unraveling for me. My desire is for a continuation of these unexpected realizations.
自分にとってアートは、沢山ある興味とアイデンティティーが交差する場所である。特に、アイデンティティーが社会の常識の外にある時に生じる抑圧と子ども時代の体験を呼び起こすような作品作りにひかれる。また、アイデンティティーの小さな違いや、はかなさ、一時性といったものに興味がある。
いろんな手法を楽しむが、特に作業の繰り返しにより大量に作品を生み出すプロセスをとる事が多い。少しづつ違っているもの大量に作る事で、類似と相違、個人性と画一性、唯一無二のものと大量に生産されたもの、といったテーマに取り組む。
これらのテーマの多くは今もなお、おのずと展開を続けており、この思いもよらない悟りの連続が私を魅了し続けている。
